The photo below is of the National Animal of our country Nepal and they are known as COW. Yes these are cows who were abandoned by the people after being financial burden to the owners. Our team is now tirelessly working on the spot which is almost 750 Km away from Kathmandu.
Our team along with the founder of Sneha’s Care Ms. Sneha Shrestha, headed to this location once we knew about this incident.
Almost 2,500 abandoned cows were taken into the Cow shelter managed by Ghodaghodi Municipality in Kailali District. These cows were taken in the middle of the jungle 6 months back. Almost 500 cows were sold to the interested people, 1700 died of hunger & diseases and now the remaining number of cows is almost 250. There are another 100 cows seen in the street as well.
These cows are facing a big trouble at the moment and logistic is very hard to reach the cow shelter. We hired a tractor where we took food and medicines for them.
Our team has been feeding the cows and medically supporting them. We had meetings with different stakeholders including Mayor of the Ghodaghodi Municipality and came with a conclusion to make the life of the remaining and survived cows better. We already allocated a new land with the help of municipality which is very close to the village and with facilities like water and grazing area where these cows will be shifted for their safety and better life. We are starting the fencing and building new shelter in the land that will be provided by Municipality. We are also supporting the municipality for drafting a Local Level Animal Welfare Act.
We wont be leaving this place unless things goes better which might take at-least a month.
We need your support to buy them food, medicines and building a new safe place for them to live. Please help us help these innocent animals and do not forgot that, these animals comes to street and they are abandoned because we love milk and dairy products.
Rocky was rescued from Khokana Bus Park, Lalitpur on 29th December 2018. One careless bus driver ran over him, and he got severely injured. He had to lose one of the hind legs due to the negligent of humans.
Sneha’s Care started his treatment without any delay. But there was not a single chance to save his leg because it was severely infected. Our team did need medication and care. Fortunately we succeed to amput his leg, and still, he is under treatment. Please pray for his speedy recovery & help us cover the cost of the vet bill. www.snehacare.org/donate
Three calves were hit by a truck at Dhapakhel
Why are people not so serious and do not see such large animals just in front of them? Is it because there is no proper law for harming animals?
One died and two are struggling for their life. They are in such a pain and we do not have a space to bring them to our shelter. What else we could do do except the treatment on the spot. Government must come with a solution for such kind of cases as it is their responsibility either to take care of these innocent animals or at-least introduce a strict law which prohibits abandoning animals.
Back to back paralysis case! Enough is enough! When will we understand that IT’S NOT OK TO HIT ANIMALS! And to RUN AWAY SHAMELESSLY? We got rescue alert from Sabitri Sharma about hit and run case. the dog has an injury on the back and was left on the streets mercilessly. Don’t you even feel a bit of pain and sympathy for these creatures? Is it so important to reach to your destination that you don’t care about your journey? 2 minutes. It only takes 2 minutes of your precious time to look at the road while driving and slow down so that the dogs could cross the road. That’s it. The dogs have to face the consequences of YOUR MISTAKES, not YOU!! Please drive safe. Please save animals.
Molly is rescued from Jawalakhel and is getting required treatment. Thanks to kind people like Sabitri, she gets a second chance in life.
This is the height of cruelty!!! What is happening to us? To our society? How have we become murderers? Who gave us the power to harm animals? Surely not the gods!
We received a rescue report from Mamta Shrestha from Harisiddhi about a small puppy, who has been hit by a car. When our team reached the location, they found the puppy in a horrible state. The puppy is in our shelter getting treatment but still is in serious condition. please pray for this little puppy. Thanks to Mamta, the puppy is getting treatment. If you want to help puppy like this, please donate.
How do you feel if you have a cut in your mouth? Pain? Anguish? And what would you do if people get scared seeing your wound? And what if they start beating you just because you look scary? You could walk to a clinic and treat it right?
Ever thought of dogs? What would they do? They obviously can’t talk or go to the vet by themselves. Can they? This is Leo. He wasn’t so lucky because he isn’t a human. He had big would in his mouth and people got scared of him. He became aggressive as people came near to him. He was just trying to protect himself. But the humans thought different and attacked it. They thought it was best to put him down. But not Sudesh Gurung. He saw how badly Leo was hurt and knew exactly what to do. He called us and we brought Leo to our shelter. He has been given proper medicine and our doctors and volunteers are trying slowly to gain his trust and make him less aggressive.
Cows are abandoned in our country and they are worshipped as well one day in a year and again they are called the national animal of Nepal. Don’t we feel shame to abandon these innocent animals and leave them to die on the street? If we do not feel ashamed why not the government declare that Cow is no more a national animal of our country?
We got a rescue call this afternoon for this cow. She was maggots wounded and we cleaned her wound and gave her some medicine to relief her pain. We found out that the cow had a tag of NLG insurance company but when we called them up, they said they do not have any information about the owner of this cow. It is heartbreaking to see such a cruel people and whoever are involved in this should be punished. Help us help end the cruelty and help us help more animals. This dog was sick since few weeks. One of the kind local from Bhaktapur Mr. Shulav Shakya tried calling the vet and was treating the dog. But since few days he stopped walking and eating. He then contacted us and we asked him to being the dog to our shelter for further treatment, which he did. Unfortunately, the dog was suffering from Distemper a viral diseases. We could not save him. Thanks to Mr. Shulav for bringing the dog all the way from Bhaktapur and trying saving his life. Help us help more animals in need.
While going to Naagdhunga for the investigation on Live Animal Transportation, our founder encountered a dog with maggots wounded wandering in the garbage at Kalanki. She then gave a packet of biscuit to the Traffic Police to make the dog be with him so that our team could go and rescue the dog. Our team reached on time and rescued the dog.
He is now at the shelter under treatment. There are many unseen cases like this and we need your support to inform us about the cases so that we could help them but on the other hand we cannot help needy animals unless we get support from you financially.
One of the dog who used to wander near our shelter was killed by devils yesterday. The dog died because of excess bleeding. We could not get enough proof that these were the one who killed this dog by attacking with a sharp weapon. But these people used to hit their farm cows so badly and also abuse the street dogs.
We could not save the life of the dog but reported about this situation to the police about this. The police officers were so helpful and took the action against them. They were warned not to abuse any animals in the future. If you see any cruelty in your community please report the cruelty to the nearby police. Your one step can stop the animal cruelty in our country.
