In respond to Dog shooting incident occurred in TIA in 15 January 2015, we organized a demonstration program a day after in front of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) demanding humane management of animals inside TIA. There we handed a five point’s memorandum to spokesperson of CAAN, Mr. Birendra Prasad Shrestha.
A further follow up were carried out by both of the parties with the aim of solving the existing problems that are caused by the animals inside TIA. After the preliminary observation and analysis of the site by Sneha’s Care team in 18 January 2017 both parties agreed to work in partnership and manage the dog population humanely.
In the first phase, we agreed to carry out the rabies vaccination to reduce the risk of exposure, severity of disease or transmittable to humans and sterilization program to control the dog population inside TIA starting from 21 January 2017.
We appreciate the support shown by the animal activists for pressuring the authority to take the concerned actions and also we would like to thank Mr. Prem Nath Thakur, Spokesperson of TIA and the officials of CAAN and TIA for choosing the best available options for the animals and stop the killing of dogs.
